WISH LIST: What Burnett needs for young people?

A waterpark? A playground, or skating rink? What does the region need to cater for our youth?

IS THERE a lack of things for young people to do in the South Burnett?

When asked what was on their wish list for the region, South Burnett Times readers identified a lack of resources for young adults, youth and young families.

Reader Dawn Milsom said she wished there was more for the younger generation in the South Burnett.

"I wish the South Burnett had more permanent fun stuff to keep young folk happier and excited about life," she posted.

Some suggested there should be a clothing store like Jay Jays for young people in the South Burnett, as most clothing stores catering for younger people were further afield in Toowoomba, Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast.

Others shared a need for an indoor sporting complex, an arcade or an all-ages ice-skating rink, to keep young people of all ages entertained.

Families with younger children also wished they had more facilities.

A children's indoor playground with a cafe for parents was a popular idea.

Some readers suggested a PCYC centre should be established in Kingaroy, in addition to the South Burnett PCYC in Murgon.

Ideas about a free public lagoon for swimming or a massive water park were also floated around.

A South Burnett water park could be achievable considering Chinchilla got a new watermelon-themed water park earlier this year - Queensland's first water park west of the coastline.

What do you think we need in the South Burnett for young people?
