SPEEDWAY: With a defending champion and several past titleholders in the line-up for the state titles, fans are in for a spectacular night of racing.
Kingaroy Speedway’s Christmas Cup race meet will be hosting the 2019/20 Queensland titles of the Super Sedans on Saturday.
Speedway treasurer Tanya Barron said Kingaroy had hosted the state titles, which have been running since 1975, a couple of times in the past.
“We’re excited about it. Super Sedans always put on good racing for Kingaroy,” she said.
Current titleholder Ipswich driver Matt Pascoe will be ready to defend his title against several past title-holders among 29 nominated drivers.
South Burnett drivers, Travis Barron and newcomer to the class Brendon Kelly, will have their chance on the track.
“They’ll give it a whirl, there’s a lot of very good drivers in the field, but anything can happen,” Barron said.
With a huge list of up to 114 driver nominations for the night, the racing will start earlier at 4.30pm to ensure they get through the whole program by 10.30pm.
Round three of the Kingaroy Speedway season will also feature three open wheel classes - the Lightning Sprints club championship, Wingless Sprints Queensland championships and Modlites.
The Street Stocks competitors will also be back for their third round as part of the action-packed night.
Gates for spectators will open at 2pm and younger racing fans will have a surprise visit from Santa at the Christmas Cup.
Ticket prices start at $25 for adults, $15 for pensioners and students and $65 for families.
