Twenty six cases of illegal dumping have been reported by the South Burnett Regional Council’s Waste and recycling management team in the first three months of 2023.

A council statement on the issue warned that illegal dumping polluted the environment, significantly diminished the use, enjoyment and value of public places, and helped the spread of disease and pests that can harm wildlife, people and livestock.

Councillor for Division 3, Danita Potter, said that due to the additional clean-up costs and drain on resources to keep the community safe and clean, “the council and in turn, ratepayers, will continue to encounter ongoing costs”.
