The Burnett’s most in-need are getting a helping hand this holiday season with more than 150 food hampers to be delivered across the region.

South Burnett businesses and the community have joined together again to support the annual food drive for families facing challenges, with its sixth annual Christmas food drive finishing with more than 150 food hampers delivered to families in need.

The collaborative effort has been led by the Bill Hull Car Centre, South Burnett CTC, South Burnett Police and other local businesses with the aim of collecting donations of non-perishable food and other essential items.

The hampers contained Christmas treats, baby products, toiletries to canned food, spreads and long life products to name a few.

Items were organised into individual hampers which were thoughtfully tailored to each individuals needs.

Food donations from members of the public were dropped off at various businesses around the region and police stations across the past weeks, and money donations were also collected by CTC.

After all donations were collected, volunteers worked tirelessly to organise the items into individual hampers which were thoughtfully tailored to individual needs.

Bill Hull marketing co-ordinator and drive organiser Dana Coe thanked all the businesses and community members who contributed to the food drive this year.

“It is heartening to witness the unity of local organisations and the community, making a positive impact during this festive season,” Ms Coe said.

CTC CEO Jason Erbacher said the response to the drive was “outstanding” and exceeded their expectations.

“In these challenging times of rising living costs, witnessing the community’s generosity has been extraordinary,” Mr Erbacher said.

“We’re immensely grateful for the selflessness displayed by the people of South Burnett. It’s a testament to the strength of our community spirit.”
