A South Burnett man allegedly attacked his brother and threatened him with a knife in a shocking dispute on Thursday night.

Police were called to a South Nanango home at 8.45pm on reports of a disturbance involving William Roy Parker, 56, and his younger brother.

It will be alleged Mr Parker threatened his brother with a knife and punched him in the face.

The alleged victim was not injured as a result.

Mr Parker was arrested and charged with an act intended to maim, disfigure or disable, as well as making threats.

The 56-year-old appeared in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Friday and was denied bail.

Police prosecutor Pepe Gangemi said Mr Parker made a “significant attempt” at injuring the man.

Duty lawyer Mandy Reid said her client suffered from a range of psychological and medical problems, mostly stemming from a serious car accident in 2005.

A full brief of evidence was ordered for January 21 and the case was adjourned for mention on February 3.
