The Burnett’s emergency services have had a busy night after two suspicious fires were lit within hours of each other in Kingaroy and Cynthia.

Qld fire and police officers were called to the first fire on Burnett St, Kingaroy about 11:30pm, where a car was engulfed in flames.

“A Holden Commodore was parked in a driveway when the vehicle was deliberately lit by unknown persons,” a QPS spokesman confirmed.

Two QFD crews contained the blaze before it was put out at 11:47pm.

After a search to make sure no one was in the car, a tow truck came to collect it.

QPS are treating the incident as suspicious, and an investigation into the fire is ongoing.

Fire crews were then called to an incident in Cynthia about 5am, where a caravan had been set on fire in a paddock on Screening Plant Rd.

The caravan was “totally lost” according to a QFD spokesman and because of its positioning in the paddock, “it took a while for our crew to get water down to it”,

A gas bottle was reportedly involved in the fire as it exploded near the caravan.

The incident, confirmed by a QPS spokesman this morning, has been classed as a domestic violence incident.

They were unable to comment further.
