A 34-year-old man who pinned his partner between two cars and threatened to run over his children has learnt his fate for his cowardly act.

The South Burnett man pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle domestic violence offence and three counts of contravening a domestic violence order on March 10, 2025.

The court heard he was living with his partner and multiple children in January last year.

The aggrieved and the defendant started arguing at their home before she tried to leave the property in their Land Cruiser.

As she was trying to get into the car, he got into a truck and drove into her, pinning her between the driver’s door and the bullbar of the truck.

The truck had to be reversed for her to be able to get out.

She was left with large bruises and there was a dent in the car door.

Police prosecutor Sophie Stewart said, “In this matter, the vehicle has been used as a weapon”.

The court heard the aggrieved could not call for help as he would not give her access to their mobile phone and kept it in his pocket.

When she tried to send their daughter to get help from the neighbours, he threatened the child and said “If you go to the neighbours, I will run you down”.

Magistrate Andrew Sinclair disqualified the defendant from driving for six months and sentenced to 21 months in prison, with a parole release date of Monday, March 11, 2025.

Senior Sergeant Stewart told the court on another occasion the man ranted in their home for hours, calling his partner a “whore”, “junkie slut” and “a piece of shit”.

He threatened her, saying “you are lucky you have a baby, otherwise I would kill you”, and accused her of plotting to poison him.

The children were in the home at the time and witnessed the incident.

Snr Sgt Stewart said the man had a lengthy criminal history, with seven previous domestic violence related convictions, six priors for violence and there are two domestic violence orders against him which includes his current partner.

However, the court heard the aggrieved “wants to continue the relationship”.

The 34-year-old had been in custody for 277 days, which Magistrate Andrew Sinclair took into consideration during sentencing.

He was disqualified from driving for six months and sentenced to 21 months in prison, with a parole release date of Monday, March 11, 2025.

Convictions were recorded.
