A man accused of raping a child over eight years is facing trial.

Joshua Jeffrey Robert Miller pleaded not guilty to five counts of raping a child and three charges of indecent treatment of a child under sixteen years of age.

The 29-year-old is on trial in Kingaroy District Court this week.

Crown prosecutor Alex Stark said the alleged victim was six years old to 14 years when the alleged offences occurred.

Mr Stark said the offending allegedly happened from May 2010 to February 2018 in Murgon and Goomeri.

Jurors were told they can expect to hear three hours of recorded evidence from the alleged victim.

The alleged victim’s mum and former support worker are expected to provide evidence during the trial, which is expected to conclude next Monday or Tuesday.
