A former Nanango man with previous convictions for soliciting young girls has been busted again after trying to bribe a 13-year-old girl to expose herself.

William Patrick McKeen, 54, faced Brisbane District Court over the offence which happened in October 2019, published court sentencing remarks have revealed.

The documents said McKeen asked her to clean his vehicle, after which she went into his home to be paid.

McKeen then showed her a $50 note, $10 more than he had initially offered, claiming another young girl he knew “shows me her boobs to get extra money” and asked if she would like a bonus, too.

She refused, and he then gave her the $50 and told her she could keep it if she kept quiet.

The teen instead took the money, went home, and told her father.

Judge John Allen said during sentencing there was a five year gap between the offence and McKeen’s guilty plea to indecent treatment of a child under 16 due to a referral to the Mental Health Court to determine if he was mentally fit to face the courts.

McKeen’s criminal history included sentencing at Beenleigh District Court in 2004 for two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

There were two victims on that occasion, who had been left in McKeen’s care.

McKeen told the girls he would “make you a deal: You take your tops off and I’ll take my shorts off, and then I’ll let you go over to your friend’s house”.

The girls complied, and he then molested each of them.

The court at the time considered material tendered about McKeen’s intellectual disability and sentenced him to two months’ jail and three years’ probation.

In July 2009 he was sentenced at Nanango Magistrates Court for failing to comply with his child protection reporting obligations and fined $500.

A psychologist report tendered to the Brisbane District Court said he had been diagnosed with an intellectual disability “within the mild to moderate range”.

Judge Allen accepted there were exceptional circumstances in McKeen’s case including the five year gap since the offence and improvements to his living arrangements, including NDIS and social worker support, no substance abuse issues, and a stable relationship with his partner who was in court to support him.

McKeen was placed on 18 months’ probation with a conviction recorded.
