Jesse James Horne charged with dangerous driving, grievous bodily harm

A 29-year-old man charged with deliberately running down another person and pinning him against a car at a service station will face trial.

Jesse James Horne, 29, is charged with one count of the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing grievous bodily harm and one count of wilful damage.

A man accused of deliberately running down another person at a Kingaroy petrol station, pinning him against a car, will face trial in September 2024.

Mr Horne allegedly pinned a 56-year old man with his car, up against another vehicle at Kingaroy service station at the intersection of Youngman and John Streets on the afternoon of Friday, July 27.

The man allegedly sustained a serious leg injury and lacerations in the incident, and three cars at the scene were allegedly damaged.

During a hearing into the matter on Monday at Kingaroy District Court, Crown Prosecutor Hamish McIntyre said the prosecution was ready to proceed to trial.

“It relates to driving directly at someone and striking him with a car,” Mr McIntyre said.

Jesse James Horne, 29, will face trial, accused of deliberately ramming his car into another man at a Kingaroy petrol station, causing severe injury.

Matthew McCarthy from Creevey Horrell Lawyers appeared via telephone on behalf of Mr Horne, informing the court Mr Horne’s counsel would be on leave.

However, Judge Jennifer Rosengren ruled the trial would be listed as trial number one on September 30, despite Mr McCarthy’s concerns about counsel availability.

“That is still five or six weeks away, that is plenty of opportunity to brief another council,” Judge Rosengren said.
Mr Horne is yet to enter a plea.

The trial is listed for Monday, September 30, 2024.
