The court heard Marriott has an extensive criminal history in Queensland and Western Australia including “offences with substance burglary, stealing and attempted armed robbery”, with recurring themes of drug abuse.

Prosecutor Alex Stark said during his most recent offending Marriott entered into an altercation with a woman, whom he had a romantic relationship with, over methamphetamines at a Nanango hotel.

“He punched her four times in the stomach and kicked her in the side, he demeaned her,” Mr Stark said.

The court heard the woman told Marriott she had anxiety, to which he replied “You don’t have f--king anxiety c--t, I’m going to take you down the road and f--king kill you c--t”.

Marriott demanded the woman's pinky finger and proceeded to get a butter knife, the court was told.

Marriott began choking her and “punched her in the mouth causing her immediate pain”.

Mr Stark said she thought her bottom teeth had been broken.

“Marriott became paranoid someone would hear them and threatened her to be quiet if the police came,” Mr Stark said.

“He said he wished he had a butcher’s knife,” he said.

He then threatened the woman with inviting men to the room to use her body, he said “I’ll get some blokes round and I’ll make $5,000”.

The court heard the woman managed to escape the hotel in the early hours of the morning while Marriott was sleeping, over the next few days he called her mobile 114 times, left 67 text messages and 20 abusive voice messages.

Mr Stark said the woman no longer trusts men and “she will never have another partner and will grow old and lonely with her dog”.

Defence barrister Francis Martin said if Marriott had served 421 days in pre-sentence custody and will be moving to Brisbane when released.

Judge Gary Long SC said Marriott’s offences occur in the context of a substantial criminal history.

“That is a matter which tends to aggravate the court’s response,” Judge Long said.

“You treated a woman in an abhorrent way,” he said.

Marriott was released and sentenced to a two year $500 good behaviour bond.
