Nearly two weeks after a horror crash in the South Burnett claimed the lives of two men, and left a third severely injured, police are continuing to probe the cause of the crash.

John ‘Little John’ Hoghes and Jesse Madden died when the car they were travelling in rolled and slammed into a power pole on the D’Aguilar Hwy between Kingaroy and Nanango on Sunday, April 10.

A 28-year-old Kingaroy man was flown to Brisbane in a serious condition.

Nearly two weeks on from the incident, the community and police are still searching for answers.

Kingaroy Police officer-in-charge David Tierney confirmed police were still investigating the cause and the moments leading up to the crash.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Two people from a separate car reportedly witnessed the crash and assisted police on the night it occurred.

The South Burnett Times understands police are working on speaking to witnesses and gaining information from social media accounts.

Forensic Crash Unit officers continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the car and its manner of driving before the crash, or who has dashcam footage of the area at the time to contact police.

The death of the two men has shattered the community and their family.

John Hoghes has been remembered by friends and family as a wonderful son and brother.

His mother Laura Byron has been left shattered by the news.

“My boy, I’m going to miss you so much. You grew your wings to early and left your family way too soon,” she wrote on social media.

“‘I’m going to miss you so bad, you’re up there with your dad now my boy.”
