OPINION: NBN experience a smooth one

I GUESS I must be one of the lucky ones when it comes to using the National Broadband Network.
We hear of plenty of complaints, but my experience with the fixed wireless service couldn't be better.
Granted, I have certainly had my problems trying to get the NBN installed.
When I lived in a more isolated part of the South Burnett, I was informed the fixed wireless service was available in the area.
Unfortunately there was no trace of a signal and our connection options were limited to mobile broadband.
But after I moved to Kumbia earlier this year, I took another shot at signing up for NBN.
The installation was quick and our service up and running within hours.
The connection has been mostly flawless for the past month.
It has also been fast.
My parents live in a northern suburb of Brisbane and while using their connection the other day, I thought I would give it a speed test.
The result? 6 megabits per second line speed.
When I returned home and tested the speed in Kumbia, it came in at 36 megabits per second.
While the argument could be made there are many factors that affect a speed test, the result still astounded me.
Having said all this, it doesn't excuse the issues many have had with their connections, particularly customers connected to the Sky Muster satellite.
NBN chief customer officer John Simon admitted the satellite service had not been a "smooth journey" for everyone and said the company was working to improve it.
Hopefully the company is swift to address any issues its customers are having.
All residents living in regional Australia deserve access to a fast and stable internet connection.
If my personal experience is anything to go by, it seems like it could be a reality one day.
