Man flown to hospital after being hit by road roller at Teelah in the South Burnett

A shocking incident south of Kingaroy that left a man trapped beneath heavy machinery with serious injuries has sparked an official investigation, with new information now revealed.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has launched an investigation after a man became trapped under a road roller in the South Burnett, leaving him with serious injuries.

Emergency crews were called to the incident just before midday Sunday after reports of a “steamroller and pedestrian incident” on a private property at Teelah, southeast of Nanango.

An Office of Industrial Relations spokesman said the man was injured when the roller tipped on its side and slid down a steep embankment, trapping the man’s leg.

The spokesman said it’s believed the wet weather may have contributed to the incident.

An RACQ LifeFlight helicopter has been called to a horror incident in the South Burnett.

Paramedics and fire crews worked for several hours to safely extricate the man from the wreckage, with the patient eventually flown to Toowoomba Hospital just before 3pm Sunday.

He was flown in a stable condition with a significant leg injury.

There have been no updates on the man’s condition, however the OIR spokesman said the injuries to his leg appear to be less severe than initially thought.
