A Kingaroy woman charged with stabbing her partner in the leg with a 12cm blade before accidentally slashing her own face has indicated she will contest the allegation.
Police will allege Kaycee Jayd Byrne grabbed the knife when a fight with her 25-year-old partner escalated on Saturday morning.
She has been charged with one count of wounding.
Magistrate Christopher Callaghan said it’s alleged the 30-year-old turned and pointed the knife at the alleged victim before stabbing him in the leg, leaving a 3-4cm wound.
The man then pushed her away and Ms Byrne fell over, accidentally striking herself in the face with the knife, Kingaroy Magistrates Court was told.
The man was taken to hospital and received eight stitches in his leg, police prosecutor Sergeant Barry Stevens said.
Lawyer Jay Rose said his client indicated she plans to plead not guilty.
She was granted bail to appear in the court again on September 13.
