Golden Guitar winner headed home on music tour

This is no ordinary concert – prepare to be entertained by music, bush tales and horse and working dog demonstrations.

GOLDEN Guitar winner Tom Curtain will be bringing his country tunes back to his childhood home in the new year.

Curtain’s We’re Still Here tour will be no ordinary show when it comes to Kumbia on January 3, 2020.

It will feature horses and working dog demonstrations followed by an hour of live music, based on his Katherine Outback Experience show.

“It’s an enormous buzz to see the people coming together and I love seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces when they see the dogs,” Curtain said.

“It’s a very hands-on experience for the kids, but also an important opportunity to bring the community together and check in on one another.”

The performer will give South Burnett fans an insight into his life through his songs.

The album celebrates the hope, resilience and pride still evident in regional and remote Australia.

“I wanted to bring a smile to people listening to certain songs and inspire people out there battling to hold on to speak up in times of hardship,” Curtain said.

The singer is also committed to spreading the anti-bullying message of Dolly’s Dream on the tour, while also providing a platform for rural communities to connect with each other.

He was inspired to share the message about the resilience of farmers after seeing the extent of the drought during his Speak Up tour.

“These farmers and communities are facing all these hardships including droughts, floods and fires, and it is so soul destroying, but they are supporting each other and bouncing back, one foot in front of the other,” Curtain said.

Raised Up Right and his 2018 hit Speak Up contain positive messages, while Hitchhiker tells the story of how he met his wife Annabel.

On We’re Still Here, the Golden Guitar winner mixes deeper tracks and message with rocking numbers that will have fans taking to the dance floor.

“I love storytelling and there’s a few good yarns in there as well,” he said.

The singer-songwriter said he wanted to inspire and uplift his listeners through the songs about his life, his journey and the “great people who make up this amazing country out here”.

The South Burnett show will be held at the Kumbia Racecourse on Friday, January 3 from 6—8.30pm.

It will include an hour of the Katherine Outback Experience Show, intermission and an hour of live music, including special guests.
