Funeral announced for South Burnett teen, Lucy Rose Needer

The family of an animal loving South Burnett teen with a “heart of gold” who tragically died earlier this week have invited those who knew her to join them on a trail ride in her honour.

Funeral details for an animal loving South Burnett teen with a “heart of gold” have been announced, with her family inviting those who knew her to join them on a trail ride in her honour.

Lucy Rose Needer tragically died in a car accident on June 3, aged 16-years-old.

The funeral notice published by Killick Family Funerals reads:

“Dearly loved daughter of Denis and Stacy. Adored sister of Hannah. Cherished granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend to many.”

The family have asked those attending the funeral service to wear a “touch of teal”.

The service will be held at Booie Hall on June 19, at 11am, followed by a interment at Booie Cemetery at 1pm.

The family will be riding from Booie Hall to the cemetery, and have invited anyone who wishes to come along for “Lucy’s final trail ride”.

This will be an approximately one hour ride on horseback.

Tributes from those who knew and loved Lucy are still pouring in on social media, with many people sharing how her kindness and friendship impacted their lives.

“Lucy guided my girl, who was a year older, and helped her find friends and just cared so much … This world will never be able to replace a heart as kind as yours,” Jas wrote.

“(I) knew Lucy for years, went to primary and high school together and saw her daily on the bus … She was so sweet and kind to whoever she could be, she was a leader to children and other teenagers,” Alexi shared.

“I had the privilege of meeting this beautiful young lady three times,” Annita wrote.

“Mate! All I can say is she is the carbon copy of her beautiful mother – personality and all.”

“The beautiful energy that surrounded this young lady was infectious.

“Each time I bumped into you at the school, you made my day beautiful girl.

“You spread your wings too soon, darling girl. I know you are up there surrounded by horses, puppies, animals that all need some Lucy in their lives.

“Shine bright in the sky, beautiful girl.”

Media has been asked not to attend the funeral service.
