FIREFIGHTERS were called to a false alarm at St Mary’s Catholic College in Kingaroy this afternoon.

The QFES crew arrived on scene along Kent St after noon on Friday, and quickly called off any further assistance.

St Mary’s Catholic College reported there was no fire at the school.

The school’s pump in the big fire shed was malfunctioning, which triggered a whole series of alarms, which the firefighters responded to.

A QFES spokesman said there was no sign of smoke or fire when the firefighters arrived, despite original reports claiming smoke was coming from a vent of a building.
