Durong crash: Police investigating crash on Mundubbera Durong Rd

A man was left trapped in his car for more than an hour after it slammed into a tree in the Burnett, with police now investigating the incident. FULL DETAILS

Police are investigating a Burnett crash that left a man trapped in a car with serious injuries on Thursday.

A Queensland Police Services spokeswoman confirmed investigations were being conducted after a vehicle slammed into a tree on Mundubbera Durong Rd, Durong, just after 10am on January 27.

Emergency services were called to the scene and found a man trapped in the wreckage.

Paramedics worked to stabilise the man while fire crews spent more than an hour working to free him.

An RACQ LifeFlight spokeswoman confirmed the rescue helicopter landed nearby and transported the man, aged in his 40s, to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition at about 12.15pm.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.

Earlier that morning, crew rushed to the scene of a helicopter crash on the Western Downs.

Emergency services were called to the incident just after 9am, with reports a helicopter struck powerlines while mustering cattle on a property near Grosmont, 90km north of Miles.

Paramedics treated the pilot and sole occupant of the helicopter at the scene near Ryals and Perretts Roads.

The pilot reportedly managed to extricate himself from the wreckage.

He was then flown to Toowoomba Hospital in a serious but stable condition with chest injuries.

“He’s lucky to be alive,” RACQ LifeFlight Rescue pilot Hamish Felton-Taylor said.
