The Callide Dawson Beef Carcase Competition (CDBCC) Committee, conducted their annual general meeting last month and installed a new executive.

This year marked the 30th anniversary of the annual competition, which in its time has now raised over $220,000 for mostly local shows and sporting and community organisations.

New president Beau Surawski from Soldiers Plains, Theodore is happy with the organisation's growth.

"Although we didn't set a new record in terms of entries this year, the carcase comp did continue its growth with the presentation dinner held at a much bigger venue in the Biloela Civic Centre,” he said.

This is not the only improvement initiated by the CDBCC committee with a modified scoring platform to be utilised for the 2019 competition.

"The last two meetings has seen the ratification of an enhanced scoring system that will be implemented for the 2019 competition,” Mr Surawski said.

"The slight adjustments made to the scoring have refined the yield versus quality balance and allow the competition to remain industry relevant.”

The newly elected president was proud of the inclusive and open nature of the carcase competition.

"Entry is not limited to only those from the Dawson and Callide Valleys,” Mr Surawski said.

The competition has 11 classes made up from single and pen of three entries for grass-fed, grain-fed and grain-assisted export and domestic steers and heifers.

The new elected office bearers consist of president, Beau Surawski, secretary, Denise Hartwig, treasurer, Donna Wales and vice president, Denis Clair.
