COUNCILLOR Kathy Duff is South Burnett’s self-confessed lady in pink.
However, she has been happy to blend in of late as towns across the South Burnett embrace the McGrath Foundation’s pink up your town initiative from November 1 to 11.
From Yarraman to Proston properties and businesses alike have been decorated in pink to raise funds to help fight breast cancer.
“I think it is fantastic that the whole South Burnett has reacted to it in such a positive way,” Cr Duff said.
“I am blending into everything now there is nothing unusual about what I am wearing.
“It has exploded because everyone is doing it and talking about it.”
Cr Duff was asked to judge the best decorated places in Proston and attended the town’s Pinknic in the Park fundraiser.
South Burnett’s McGrath Foundation nurse Sue Cox has also been busy attending events on behalf of the foundation and spreading the message throughout the region.
In addition to spreading awareness for breast cancer and making tourists stop and think when they make a stop through the region the initiative has also to helped bring people together.
“It helps to bring our community together for a single cause and there is a lot of strength in that,” Cr Duff said.
“The more community spirit we can get into it the better the outcome.”
There are already plans to have the event return in 2020 however, it is thought it will be brought forward to October to coincide with breast cancer awareness month.
