From 5 - 8.30pm a whole heap of festivities will be on offer, including free Santa photos, night shopping and markets, free and gold coin kids activities, Christmas tree lighting, food trucks and vendors, plus live entertainment.

The now iconic event on the Roma calendar has garnered quite the crowd throughout the years with Maranoa Regional Council declaring a temporary road closure from 2.30pm on the day.

McDowall Street, between Quintin Street and Charles Street will be temporarily closed from 2.30pm until 10pm on Thursday December 1 and residents are asked to please remove any parked cars within this section prior to 2.30pm.

Wallumbilla Christmas Party

Save the date for the Wallumbilla Christmas Party!

The Wallumbilla Showgrounds will be kicking off the Christmas festivities with their free community party on Saturday December 3.

From 3pm till late, meet Santa in-person and pick your selection from a wide range of food and drinks options, including an ice cream van.

There will be live music to set the mood, plus plenty to keep the kids occupied with a water slide and jumping castle.

Roma Christmas Carols

Bear witness to the best voices Roma has to offer at the Roma Carols on Sunday December 4.

St John’s Catholic School are bringing the carols back outside this year on their primary oval on the corner of McDowall and Duke St, Roma.

Your choice of sausage sizzles, burgers and drinks will be available from 4pm, with the main program starting at 6pm.

There will be performances from Maranoa Music, local schools, dancers, choirs and churches in this mega musical event.

McDonald’s Christmas Races

What do you get when you mix Christmas with horse races? The McDonald’s Christmas Races!

Make sure to head on down to the Bassett Park Showgrounds on Saturday December 10 to get your yearly dose of festive horse racing.

The ‘Maccas’ Christmas Races caps off the Roma 2022 racing calendar and is the perfect choice for the whole family.

The five race program also offers activities for children including a special visit from the big man dressed in red.

Maranoa News Year’s Eve Spectacular

Nothing screams New Year’s Eve like a firework display right here in Roma.

Come and celebrate the turn of the new year at Roma’s Bassett Park on Saturday December 31 at the New Year’s Eve Spectacular.

Gates open at 5pm and in the lead up to midnight there will be a whole lot of fun accompanied by a licensed bar, live music and food trucks.

The Roma Show Society is excited to reveal the program which includes an Inaya Day and Berrymen Concert, Nutbush and Macarena Record Attempts, dodgem cars, super sizzler, merry-go-round, a rockwall, a water obstacle course, giant jenga, giant chess, putt putt golf and a blue light gaming trailer.

Tickets prices start at $32.58 with family deals available.

Mitchell New Year’s Eve Night Pro Rodeo

The best way to conclude the festive season is with a New Year’s Eve party.

Just an hour west of Roma, nearby Mitchell will be hosting a top class 8 pro rodeo event to welcome the new year.

Featuring a DJ, big screen, bar, food stalls, a jumping castle and water slide, there’s something for everyone.
