Two people were rushed to hospital at the weekend after a fire ripped through a South West Queensland property, destroying a car and a 60 acres of vegetation in its wake.

Emergency services were called to the scene just before 3pm on Saturday, October 26 after reports of a fire at the property on Roma Taroom Rd at Euthulla.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said 60 acres of vegetation was engulfed in flames, with the inferno threatening structures.

The spokesman said multiple fire crews worked for hours alongside heavy machinery to build breaks in an effort to contain the fire.

By 5.30pm, the spokesman said the fire had been contained, but by then the fire had already consumed a vehicle.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a female in her 30s and a man in his 40s were both taken to Roma Hospital with smoke inhalation and minor burns.

The QFD spokesman said the fire was still under investigation, and there was no established cause as at Monday, October 28.
