Australia's home building boom is at its end: Report

Southwest Queensland has seen a mass migration of people moving to the region from Brisbane and interstate as it remains one of the most afforable places to buy a home in the country.

Born and raised in Roma, Anna Coomber now applies her local knowledge of the region to her job as a real estate agent for Ray White Rural Dalby.

Ms Coomber said over the past 12 months the sales market in southwest Queensland has remained steady.

“There’s still a lot of buyers around,” she said.

“We’ve currently got lots of buyers coming to us and asking us to door knock on people’s houses and ask them if they want to sell.

“There’s a lot of people moving here (Dalby) from out of town, especially to Roma and other smaller western towns.

“We’re seeing a lot of parents wanting to buy a property here for their kids because their kids can’t find anywhere to live.”

Ray White Rural Charleville sales expert April Radnedge said the Charleville property market was still performing well despite a recent lull.

“I wouldn’t say house prices have decreased, but they haven’t increased extravagantly either,” she said.

“The last time I checked the average house price in Charleville was ranging from about $150,000 to $180,000 and it hasn’t really changed from that.

“There’s a lot of people from out of town looking to buy here. We’ve had people mainly from Brisbane, the Sydney area and Victoria inquiring.”

Offering a quieter, more peaceful lifestyle to the hustle and bustle of city life, The Western Star takes a look at some of the best steals available in the region under $300,000.
