Three teenage boys charged after alleged crime spree in Roma

A group of teenagers have been refused bail and were remanded in custody after they were charged with a range of serious offences following an alleged night of terror in Roma.

Roma police allege the rampage started about 12.45am on Friday, August 9, when they entered an Acacia Rd home and threatened the 24-year-old occupant with baseball bats.

The three boys, aged 15, 16, and 17, then allegedly stole personal items including a wallet, and a car.

Police allege the boys then drove the silver MG ZS to a service station on the Warrego Highway at Roma, and made off without paying for fuel about 1am.

The boys allegedly attempted to break into multiple businesses on Northern Rd and Quintin St between 2.15am and 2.30am, allegedly using the baseball bats to smash glass doors.

At 2.30am, police allege fraudulent online transactions were made using the details of a credit card in the stolen wallet.

Police further allege that when police tried to intercept the stolen vehicle, the boys threw rocks and tin cans at the police vehicles, causing damage.

The three boys were arrested on August 12, and were brought before the Roma Childrens Court on August 13.

They were each charged with one count of armed robbery in company, one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, one count of stealing, once count of fraud, three of attempted enter premises and commit an indictable offence, one of enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence, and two counts of wilful damage.

The 17-year-old Dirranbandi boy, 16-year-old Ducklo boy, 15-year-old Roma boy remain remanded in custody and are set to appear in the Roma Childrens Court on October 2.

District crime prevention co-ordinator Sergeant Daniel Clarke thanked the community for their assistance.

“With the assistance of the community, police were able to deter further offences being committed and were able to locate and arrest the boys,” Sergeant Clarke said.
