Police round up of alleged crimes in Roma, St George

Alleged drink drivers, a sweet-toothed thief and a woman who fought for her right to party are among some of the most recent incidents that police have responded to. See the latest from around the region here.

A 38-year-old man has been charged with stealing after a previous conviction and trespass after he allegedly stole fairy floss and a water pistol from a Roma store.

Police were called to the store on Wyndham St in Roma’s CBD at 1pm on May 18, after reports the man allegedly left the store without attempting to pay.

Roma District crime prevention co-ordinator Sergeant Daniel Clarke said checks revealed the man was also allegedly banned from the store.

The man was issued a notice to appear in Roma Magistrates Court on June 25, charged with stealing after a previous conviction and trespass.

After a day of allegedly disorderly and threatening behaviour, a St George woman was charged with two counts of public nuisance.

The 24-year-old was first seen allegedly swearing and being disorderly in a public place at 10am on May 24 in Victoria St, St George.

The woman was later seen again allegedly again being disorderly and threatening, and yelling verbal abuse.

Police issued the woman a notice to appear on July 2 in the St George Magistrates Court with two charges of public nuisance.

Another St George woman was issued a notice to appear after she allegedly didn’t turn the music down when she was asked by police.

Police were allegedly called to an Arthur St address in St George at about 10pm on May 25, in relation to loud music.

The 37-year-old woman was charged with failure to comply with a noise abatement direction when she allegedly kept her music going after police had issued a warning.

The woman is set to appear in St George Magistrates Court on July 2.

After allegedly returning a breath alcohol concentration reading more than three times the legal limit, a 29-year-old man was charged with driving under the influence of liquor.

Police allegedly intercepted the Toowoomba man in the Westlands Plaza carpark in Roma on May 21, where he allegedly returned a BAC reading of 0.164.

The man, allegedly driving a black Jeep, was intercepted at 11.50pm.

Police issued the man a notice to appear in the Roma Magistrates Court on June 25, and his licence was immediately suspended.

Police also allegedly busted three motorists driving without a licence.

A 20-year-old man is set to face the St George Magistrates Court after allegedly driving unlicensed and telling officers a false name.

Police allege the Toowoomba man was intercepted in a Toyota on Grey St in St George at 6.10pm on May 28.

It is alleged the man provided police with a false name, but further checks revealed the man’s licence was demerit point suspended.

Police charged the man with contravention of a direction of a police officer, and unlicensed driving.

The man was issued a notice to appear in the St George Magistrates Court on July 2.

A St George man was also allegedly intercepted driving unlicensed in St George on May 28.

Police allege the 59-year-old man was driving a grey Toyota wagon on St George Terrace at 5.45pm, while his licence was SPER suspended.

The man is set to appear in St George Magistrates Court on July 2.

A 50-year-old Roma woman was also intercepted driving allegedly unlicensed on the Warrego Highway on May 15.

Police allegedly intercepted the woman driving a silver Nissan at 5pm on the Warrego Highway, near the Big Rig in Roma.

The woman was issued a notice to appear in the Roma Magistrates Court on June 25.
