Police investigations are continuing after a ute towing a horse float was stolen from a Roma property.

Police allege that in the early hours of Tuesday morning an F250 which was attached to a horse float, was stolen from a property on Bassett Court, Roma.

Officer in charge of Roma police station Senior Sergeant Duane Frank said residents of the property woke to the sound of their vehicle driving away, with the horse float attached.

He said the vehicle evaded police, and was later found abandoned on Currey St in Roma, near the railway. The horse float was found elsewhere on the outskirts of town.

Sergeant Frank said the vehicle was recovered with no damage, and was being examined for forensic evidence as the investigation continued.

He said the stolen vehicle, which he described as very large and difficult to drive, also hit a power pole.

Sergeant Frank said CCTV footage shows young males acting suspiciously in the area close to the time of the incident.

Footage provided by a resident in the area shows the vehicle evade police, hitting a light post in the process.

A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the vehicle was stolen from the Bassett Court address at about 1am on July 16.

“The vehicle was located a short time later,” the QPS spokeswoman said.

“Investigations are continuing and investigators are appealing for anyone with information to contact police.”
