Don't miss out on the headlines from Roma. Followed categories will be added to My News.
After much anticipation and receiving wild public interest we can reveal the winner of Maranoa’s best mullet competition for 2024.
While he may have been our most senior entry into the competition, Roma Windscreens’ Lyall Fisher, 58, has been voted as the region’s mullet king.
Nominated by his adoring wife Leonne for a bit of fun, Mr Fisher was quite surprised when contacted by the Western Star about the win.
Mr Fisher said he decided to let his hair grow out after Christmas 2022, and was not something he took too seriously.
“I just thought I’d let it grow, it doesn’t matter too much when I’m out working on the farm,” he said.
“Not everyone gets to grow their hair out, I’m lucky I've still got most of my colour (for my age).”
Mr Fisher said from time to time he gets the odd request from the public to feel his beard, curious by its texture.
“You can have your hair however you want, it’s all just a bit of fun,” he said.
“There’s only really a fortnight between a good haircut and a bad one.”
