Woman to face Roma Magistrates Court charged with alleged high range drink driving

Police have charged a Sunshine Coast woman with high range drink driving, after she was allegedly found on the side of the road near Roma with a tyre blown out, an empty fuel tank and empty wine bottles.

A Kawana Waters woman has been charged with high-range drink driving after she was allegedly found on the side of the Warrego Highway in her car, with empty wine bottles, an empty fuel tank, a blown out tyre, and a breath alcohol concentration allegedly five times the legal limit.

Police were called to an incident on the Warrego Highway 10km east of Roma at 4am on February 12, where the woman was allegedly sitting in the driver’s seat of a silver Toyota wagon.

Police allege the woman had driven from the Sunshine Coast to Roma. The rear right tyre blew out at some point on the drive, but the woman did not stop until her fuel tank ran empty.

A Kawana Waters woman was charged with driving under the influence of liquor after police were called to a scene 10km east of Roma.

Police further allege that after the woman returned a positive roadside breath test, she provided a staggering reading of 0.265 breath alcohol concentration at Roma police station.

The woman was given a notice to appear in court, and is set to appear on March 5.

A Queensland Police spokesman said the initial call to police was made by a tow truck driver, who had arrived to a call-out to find a vehicle missing a tyre, and the occupant reportedly acting erratically.
