THIS Australia Day is set to be a scorcher and the Maranoa has plenty of events in store to keep you cool, relaxed and help you celebrate the land down under.

All the action kicks off at 9am with the Australia Day Awards at the Cultural Centre before the Denise Spencer Pool opens to the public from 11.30am-3pm.

What better way to cool off from the 40 degree heat then hitting the pool with your family and friends for free.

The festivities will continue well into the day with the Commonwealth Hotel hosting an Australian Day-themed afternoon.

For your chance to win a $100 venue voucher dress up in your best Aussie outfit.

The cash prize will be awarded to both a male and female for their Australian passion.

So dress up in you best Aussie gear, green and gold, and head to The Comm for the whole family to enjoy.

The party will continue at The Zone for its bikinis, boardies and bogans Australia Day Party.

Doors open at 10.30pm and guests are encouraged to rock until the early morning hours of Sunday.

Enjoy an afternoon of Aussie classics and that Queensland culinary invention - lamingtons - at the Royal on Ninety-nine.

Finish the long weekend on a high with the Queens Arms Hotel hosting one hell of a party in their beer garden from 2pm.

Pie eating competitions, thong throwing, live music and a sausage sizzle will make definitely get you into the Aussie spirit.
