ROMA'S Leos club might only be two years old, but it has been recognised as club of the year for the district.

Secretary Chelsea James recently attended a meeting with the district governor, who awarded the club with a banner, badges and certificates for the club's young Leos.

"It's a proud moment because, since I've been here, we haven't gotten any recognition like that,” she said.

"We have a few more members here now too.”

The young members enjoy the sense of community that being involved in the club offers.

"It's great to participate in something that gives back to the community,” Miss James said.

The Leos club runs sausage sizzles and fish and chips nights as fundraisers for various efforts, including Dolly's Dream.

This year the club will also sponsor a kindness award at both St John's and Roma State College to recognise students who have gone above and beyond to extend kindness to other students.

"Kindness matters at home and around the world.”
