RAIN has hit Maranoa and looks like it may be here to stay, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

Roma has received more than 8.6ml since 9am this morning, and meteorologist Jess Gardner said the region can expect a wet weekend.

"The rain will continue in Roma for much of today, only easing off at nightfall,” Ms Gardner said.

"Tomorrow there will be a slight chance of showers in the area, but residents can expect more rain on the weekend.

"There is an upper trough moving in from west, the exact timing and strength is still uncertain, however we are saying there will be a medium-high chance of showers this weekend.

"There is definitely a good chance of rain in Roma on Sunday.”

Residents lapped up the cooler weather, donning raincoats and umbrellas to grab a quick bite to eat on McDowell.

Melbourne travellers Graeme and Loretta Clothier said they were enjoying the wet weather in the Maranoa.

"We love to get out and take photos during the rain, and Roma has been perfect for it,” Mr Clothier said.

"We've just warmed up with some nice hot soup! A little bit of rain won't stop us from exploring.”
