Miniature dachshund pup, Kabi, has snagged top spot as Roma’s cutest dog.
“It makes my heart full,” Kabi’s owner, Marion Mitchell, said.
Ms Mitchell said Kabi, a two-year-old miniature dachshund, is an incredibly photogenic pooch, and loves posing for the camera.
Ms Mitchell is a Mandandanji woman, while her husband is a Gunggari man. Both groups are traditional owners of parts of the Maranoa region.
“Kabi” means coffee in the Gunggari language, a name fitting for a pup with such a beautiful coffee coat.
Though Kabi is small in stature, Ms Mitchell said he is very much the boss of her other dog, Mabo.
Mabo is a five-year-old neopolitan mastiff, so their dynamic can be comical, Ms Mitchell said.
“Kabi pretty much dominates Mabo,” she said.
“If Mabo has a bone, Kabi will go after it.”
But, at the end of the day, they are best friends.
“They really get along, even snuggle into one another,” she said.
Ms Mitchell said Mabo was named after Eddie Mabo.
“Mabo is the protector of our land,” she said.
Chad, a french bulldog, was voted as Roma’s second-cutest dog.
Third place was tied four ways between Alaskan malamute Mollie, cavalier King Charles spaniel Henry, dachshund Ruby, and Aussie bulldog Kostya.
