Touch Football: Freezing temperatures didn't let Hot to Touch cool down as they won the 2018 women's A-Grade touch football competition.

On Monday evening the best teams of the competition met to battle it out for the glory of calling themselves champions.

Going up against Wii Not Fit, Hot to Touch were quick off the mark from the starting siren.

Wii Not Fit's fitness let them down in the long run, struggling to get a flow down the field.

At the final buzzer Hot to Touch took the win with a final score of 7-2. Jayde Laverty, Jane Rowbotham, Emilee Irwin, Jess Standsbie and Rhiannon Stone all made it over the line to score tries that contributed to the win. Hot to Touch captain Jane Rowbotham said their persistence was crucial in achieving the winning score.

"We have a been undefeated for the whole season and this is our third grand final we have won in a row,” she said.

"I think our persistence to keep rucking and defending got us the win. We stuck to basics and kept digging in, even though it was freezing cold and a few people were sick.

"We have basically the same team from when we won the first grand final,

but we do have a few newbies because we lost a couple to everyone having babies.”

Amie McKay from Wii Not Fit said Hot to Touch had been their biggest competition for the season.

"One thing we did, however, beat them on was in the percentage for the season, but unfortunately we couldn't come away with the win tonight.

"We are definitely living up to our name tonight, Wii Not Fit, but we are looking for recruits for next season so we have more than two subs,” McKay said.
