Roma’s appetite for pizza delivery surges during COVID-19

As locals stay in to stop the spread of coronavirus, we are opting more and more for delivery, which has meant a big change in the way companies do business.

ROMA is certainly heeding the warning to stay home during the coronavirus pandemic, evidenced by the surge in demand for pizza delivery.

Since the pandemic started, management at Domino’s Pizza Roma has noticed the trend, and they even hired more drivers to keep up with all of the deliveries.

Some outlets had reported a mega boost to sales during the pandemic, with other western stores recording their best figures since State of Origin night.

Roma store manager Ram Anabattini told The Western Star they were seeing slightly different results.

“Our sales are about the same as they have always been, maybe a little lower, but the biggest difference has been in deliveries,” he said.

“We are seeing more deliveries of smaller orders; we used to get a lot more pick-up orders, but there are far less now.

“The really big thing is the number of deliveries we are making.”

As a part of their COVID-19 safety precautions, Dominos introduced no-contact delivery.

The service has apparently been well received by hygiene-conscious customers, according to a company spokeswoman.

“Customers have responded well to the initiatives we have implemented, including Zero Contact Delivery, recognising we are listening to their feedback, providing them choices, and putting their safety (and that of our team members) first,” she said.

“We understand that it is a privilege to continue to feed the community during this time and right now, our priority is taking care of our community and helping Roma locals stay home by delivering safe, freshly prepared meals via our new zero contact practices.”
