PERMANENT road closures have been announced by the Maranoa Regional Council to come into effect on Friday, July 13.

Traffic access to sections of Short St and George St East in Roma will be closed to allow construction and operations on the Eastern Diversion Channel.

The new diversion channel is part of Roma's flood mitigation project.

Where required, for traffic management purposes, cul-de-sacs and signage will be installed in the coming weeks on roads where access will no longer be available.

Traffic from George St East will divert to Miscamble St East or the Warrego Highway and traffic from Short St will divert to Clayton Rd and Ashburn Rd.

Residents travelling to the Maranoa Archers Association will still be able to enter the grounds through Short St, via the Miscamble St East intersection.
