ROMA State College Junior Campus was a sea of laughter, superheroes and princesses on Friday as they hosted their annual Under Eights Day.

With children flocking from Yuleba, Wallumbilla and Roma, everyone was in the mood to play, learn and explore as the second term of school came to an end.

Roma State College head of campus Alese Woods, who dressed up as Mary Poppins, said the day was an opportunity for young children and families to come together.

"It is a major event we hold every year and it is put on by community members,” she said.

"We have members of our community and local businesses come in and support us and run a great day for the children of our town.”

The day included a variety of hands-on activities, including cookie decorating, slime, bubbles and arts and crafts.

Children and teachers were encouraged to dress up as their favourite character and with face painting stations available, most of the children's costumes were brought to life.

Fire, police and ambulance services also made an appearance, allowing the children to interact and learn all about the emergency services.

School holidays are now under way in Roma. School will resume on July 11.
