KIRSTEN Steinohrt has cleaned up at the Roma State College 2018 Awards Night on Wednesday, winning the 2018 Dux Award, the Emily Payne Memorial Award and the Performing Arts Award.

The Dux Award is presented to the student who has gained the highest achievement in senior studies across their five best subjects at RSC.

Ms Steinohrt said it was an honour to receive the award.

"It means a lot of long hours studying and stayingup late to finish assignments have paid off,” she said.

Ms Steinohrt studied biology, geography, physics, English and mathematics.

"Geography was obviously my favourite,” she said.

Winning the Dux Award was the icing on the cake of Ms Steinohrt's journey at RSC, as she has been with the school since Year 1.

"All the teachers and my cohort are so nice and lovely, just a really good bunch of people who made my time at school very enjoyable,” she said.

Ms Steinohrt also won the Performing Arts Award, which was awarded to the student who had performed or contributed to the arts in the community through RPA and at school and had the intention to study or continue to contribute to theart life of Queensland at a tertiary or community level.

"I'm going to take a gap year and then next year I will hope to go to university and study either media or biology,” she said.

The Emily Payne Memorial Award was the last award she received, which was awarded to a generous, able and optimistic student who inspired the best in others to make the world a better place.

Ms Steinohrt's final advice for the future graduating class was to work hard and to get things done early.

"I wish everyone good luck, because it's going to be one big year,” she said.

"It goes so quickly, I can remember getting presented as school leader and that was only, like, yesterday to me, so keep at it.”

Roma State College principal Guy Hendriks said Ms Steinohrt was an amazing student and the awards were really well deserved.

"She's very articulate, she is so involved in the community and she is really respected by the other students in her cohort,” he said.

"She's been a pleasure to have as a leader.”
