THE sun came out in the nick of time for the Roma Picnic Races, attracting both locals and out-of-town visitors to the glamorous race meet.

Racegoers from St George, Mitchell, Quilpie, and even the Sunshine Coast converged on Bassett Park for the event, after many had danced the previous night away at theBlack Toyota Black Tie Ball.

There was never a shortage of off-track activities for punters, and the highlight was the high-stakes fashions on the field.

Roma's best dressed took home a collective $8000 worth of prizes, including holiday packages, fine jewellery, and gift certificates to spend at local boutiques.

Co-ordinator of Fashions of the Field Amy Webb said it could not have been pulled off without the local support.

"We'd like to thank all our amazing sponsors - they come back year after year to support us and we wouldn't be able to run this event without them,” she said.

Sponsorsincluded Warner's Fine Jewellery, and the Taylor family.
