Duo raises dust and dollars racing in rally

Road-weary but ecstatic, Roma's Juanita and Michael Jensen returned from the Great Endeavour Rally on Monday.

Road-weary but ecstatic, Roma's Juanita and Michael Jensen returned from the Great Endeavour Rally on Monday.

The couple were part of a 130 person entourage that raced a staggering 3200km across the state for a great cause.

This year the charity car rally raised in excess of $300,000 for Endeavour Foundation, which supports people with disability in making their possibilities a reality.

Ms Jensen said although she was missing the outback roads, she was pleased to be back.

"It was an awesome experience. Awesome and chilly!” she said.

"I really enjoyed meeting new people and going to new towns that I would probably never get the chance to visit. Some of the highlights were seeing Lightning Ridge and getting to spend time at Dubbo zoo.”

The rally wasn't without its challenges, with the team coming up against obstacles along the way.

"It's my third rally, and I have been lucky enough that I never had a flat tire before this.

"However this time we somehow got three! One on each day at the start of the race.”

As a cherry on the top of an already perfect week, the Jensens were awarded first in their class for the race. The winning teams were chosen based on a points system.

"We didn't expect it - Michael kept telling me I was driving too fast. But we were really excited when we found out.”

The team thanked their Roma supporters and sponsors who helped in their fundraising efforts. Ms Jensen said the pair were looking forward to taking part in next year's race.
