BEING part of the Roma Rednecks Ute Club has been a wild ride for John Stafford but the much-loved member decided to hit the brakes on driving the ute muster circuit after one last appearance at the Wallumbilla Show.

During his five years in the Roma Rednecks, Stafford has put countless hours of time and effort into organising everything from local club events to appearances at the ute muster state finals, held at the Ekka in Brisbane.

"The ute scene has its up and down moments and it can be a lot of work,” Stafford said.

"I always try to get organised at the start of the year, try and put everything together, but there is a lot involved.

"Sometimes I do ask for a bit of help and we always get there in the end.”

Not intent on leaving the role vacant at the club, Stafford has named a successor from the club, who will take on more than just the job.

"The Wallumbilla Show on Saturday was my last run for a little while and I have a replacement in Katie-Anne Tatnell, who is going to take over,” Mr Stafford said.

"I have also sold my ute to my good mate, Katie-Anne, so she'll be well and truly taking on the role and the car.”

The Roma Rednecks Ute Club's next event is at the Roma Show, where they can be found in Machinery Alley.
