A woman has been taken to hospital after a snake bit her while she was walking a dog in Central Queensland on Saturday afternoon.

Paramedics were called to a private residence off Glenora Road at Cawarral just before 2pm.

Cawarral is a rural town situated about halfway between Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the woman in her 30s was taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.

It’s been a busy season for snake bites across the state.

Along with regular Queensland Ambulance Service callouts, a Townsville man tragically died while trying to remove a snake from a childcare centre last month.

Earlier this week, a snake-catcher in the south-west also revealed he had suffered multiple bites from an eastern brown but once in hospital, was grateful to find they had been “dry” bites.
