Emergency services have responded to an alleged assault in the early morning of Friday, May 9.
According to a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman, officers were called to a Quay Street park about 1.45am, following reports of a man striking a woman.
The spokeswoman said it was believed the man and woman are known to each other.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said paramedics assessed a woman in her 30s following the assault and the woman was subsequently taken to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition but with significant head injuries.
Police are investigating and are urging anyone with information to contact them.
