Central Queensland motorists are feeling the full force of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine with petrol prices skyrocketing across the region. Here’s where you can fill up for the lowest price.

Some fuel prices around the region have cracked the 200 cpl mark.

The hip pockets of Central Queensland drivers are feeling the full force of the Russian and Ukrainian conflict as fuel prices soar across the region.

Prices at the bowsers of some service stations around the region have cracked the 200 cpl mark, and others aren’t far off.

RACQ is urging drivers to fill up the tank now as petrol prices at some sites hit staggering new highs.

Club spokesperson Nicky Haydon said some fuel companies down south were charging 221.9 cents per litre (cpl) for regular unleaded petrol (ULP).

Ms Haydon said a range of global factors were to blame for the never-before-seen prices.

“The Russian invasion of Ukraine has led to a spike in oil prices in recent weeks, while ongoing international supply and demand issues, along with high Terminal Gate prices, are also continuing to have an impact and flow onto prices at the bowser,” she said.

“Oil prices remain incredibly volatile so we’re closely monitoring the situation.

“Some regional centres are also trending towards 200cpl, but we shouldn’t see those prices hit for another week or so.”

According to the RACQ’s Fair Fuel Finder, the fair price for fuel in Rockhampton at the moment is 188.5.

The finder says in Gladstone the fair fuel price is 187.4, and for Emerald the fair price is 187.1.

However, a number of service stations around the region have prices above the RACQ’s fair price.
