Vehicle fire causes delays on Bruce Highway, north of Rockhampton

A dramatic campervan blaze has forced the closure of Bruce Highway, leaving one person injured and motorists stranded.

A vehicle fire has caused traffic chaos on the Bruce Hwy north of Rockhampton.

Three fire crews attended the scene on Kunwarara Rd/Bruce Hwy in Marlborough after a campervan caught alight just after 12pm, a Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said.

The QFD spokeswoman said fire crews found a campervan on fire along with surrounding vegetation, adding the fire was extinguished just before 1pm.

The Bruce Highway was closed briefly in both directions with the northbound lane now reopened, a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said, adding the south bound lane remains closed.

One person had minor burns on their hand but refused to be taken to hospital, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said.
