Serious flood warnings issued for Dawson Valley

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued flood warnings for most towns in the Dawson Valley with flooding expected to impact these communities over the next 24 hours.
The Dawson River is set to rise in the coming hours and potentially flood many of its towns.
BOM is warning that major flooding is possible overnight in Taroom and moderate flooding is possible at Theodore and Baralaba.
Jambin could be flooded later in the week.
However, no further significant rainfall is expected in the next few days.
The Dawson River is currently at 6.39m and further rises are possible, leading to the major flood level of 7m possibly overnight on Wednesday, December 1.
Moderate flooding may occur downstream of Theodore.
Banana Shire Council has warned residents that the Roma Taroom Road, Leichhardt Highway north of Theodore, the Eidsvold Theodore Road and Burnett Highway on the way to Rockhampton are currently closed.
Mayor Nev Ferrier has confirmed there are no evacuations planned and that they wouldn’t be needed if the heavy rain did not continue.
Taroom is not expected to have any more than a 30 per cent chance of up to 0.2mm of rain until Saturday, according to BOM.
However, there’s a 40 per cent chance of a shower on Sunday.
The BOM will release its next warning at 9pm, December 1.
