An aspiring beautician went on a crime spree, stealing alcohol and other goods, along with allegedly carrying out an attempted robbery and a robbery for which she has been ordered to stand trial in the Children’s Court of Queensland.

The 15-year-old stole alcohol from BWS, Bobs Bulk Booze and Star Liquor, the Rockhampton Children’s Court heard on October 15.

She also stole clothing from City Beach, cosmetics and sunglasses from Big W and chocolates and drinks from a BP service station.

These thefts occurred in May, June and September.

She also breached her curfew bail condition in September and October.

Police prosecutor Clancy Fox said the teen and her co-offenders stole a one litre bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin, a 700ml bottle of Gordon gin, a one litre bottle of Bundaberg Rum and two one-litre bottles of Jim Beam from BWS on one occasion.

He said the second BWS theft involved a carton of... and a bottle of spirits’

Mr Fox said the defendant and co-offender stole a 700ml bottle of Diva red, 700ml Diva blue, one litre bottle Bundaberg Rum, one litre bottle Jack Daniels, a 10 pack of premixed Bundaberg Rum and Cola, along with 28 shots bucket.

He said an employee told them to put the items back and the offenders told them they could do what they want.

Mr Fox said the defendant and co-offender stole bikinis from City Beach by placing them under their jumpers.

He said she and a co-offender used lip gloss in Big W, put sunglasses on their heads, took price tags off shoes and put the shoes on their feet while carrying their own shoes.

Mr Fox said when they were approached by staff, they ran out of the store carrying the their own shoes.

Defence lawyer Pierre Lammersdorf said his client now resides with her mother and at the time of the offending had been living with a grandparent.

He said she attends school and is interested in cooking, hairdressing and beauty therapy.

Ms Beckinsale said she wasn’t surprised the teenager was interested in beauty therapy was she was a “beautifully presented young woman” in court.

“It’s not just the actual loss of those things that are stolen from them in monetary terms,” she said to the teenager.

“It’s the people working there. It’s distressing for them.”

The girl pleaded guilty to seven counts of stealing and two breaches of bail.

She sentenced the child to a Restorative Justice Order for the offending.

No convictions were recorded.

The child was also ordered to stand trial in the Children’s Court of Queensland after a committal hand up during the same court session for one robbery and one attempted robbery allegedly committed on June 30, 2024.

Two counts of enter premises allegedly committed on the same day were also sent to the Children’s Court of Queensland.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale said the defendant had a co-accused for both robberies with the attempted robbery involving violence with two people being assaulted.
