Rockhampton to grow by 35% in next 20 years

ROCKHAMPTON Regional Council anticipates the region's population will increase by 35.24% by 2036, creating a demand for substantial housing development.

Much of the growth is expected to follow trends towards compact housing and apartment living.

The Urban Development Institute of Australia said it was important to assess real-life examples and apply lessons to cities such as Rockhampton.

These ideas will be discussed at its Compact Housing and Innovation seminar in Rockhampton today.
