Professionals Emu Park principal Kevin Doolan wins national award

A Capricorn Coast regal estate principal has won several awards in 2021, including a prestigious Top Principal National Award.

Lockdown 'hasn't tempered' demand for properties

“Surprised” was the word a Capricorn Coast regal estate principal used to describe his reaction when he found out he had won a national award.

Professionals Emu Park principal Kevin Doolan recently won the prestigious Professionals Top Principal National Award.

Mr Doolan’s agency also this year won the Professionals Queensland Top Salesperson Regional award, Top Salesperson (Sales) award, Professionals Achiever Bronze award, Top Office Regional award, Top Office (Sales) award and Top Principal award.

He said the natural beauty and lifestyle of the Capricorn Coast was the key reason for winning the awards.

“Like the tide, there has always been highs and lows in the local real estate market, but at the moment it is like a constant king tide,” he said.

“We are under the pump. We are selling stuff all day, every day, from anywhere and at any time.

“We’ve got interest from all over Australia.

“People wanting to invest here, people wanting to move here, it is like the secret is finally out, the Capricorn Coast is a true real estate hot spot.”

He said his agency had been averaging about 20 sales a month for the past 12 months.

He said in the last 12 months property prices had risen significantly.

“Down in Zilzie Bay, 18 months ago we were selling houses for $260,000-$270,000 and now we are selling them for $420,000-$500,000,” he said.

“There is huge demand.

“Every property we have sold has had multiple offers on it.

“There are a lot of people from down south moving here site unseen, wanting to get out of the southern states.

“Because of the shortage of building material it takes a long time to get a house and that’s pushed the price of second hand homes.

“People get sick of waiting so they buy a second hand house.

“Some of them are buying a second house to live in because they can’t get a rental.”

He said rents had also increased significantly, with vacancy rates at zero per cent.

“If you have property to rent you will have about 50 applications on them the next morning,” he said.

Mr Doolan, who has been selling real estate from his Emu Park office for 47 years, said the secret to his success was “hard work, good service, and getting the best prices for our clients”.

“I just want to thank my team, they are so busy and dedicated and give 110 per cent,” he said.

“The community here has also been very good to me. Over the years we have had a huge amount of repeat business, which is what keeps me going.”

He advised that he had buyers currently looking for opportunities along the coast, for homes, businesses and land.

“We desperately need more listings,” he said.
