Out-of-town builders ‘doing a sloppy job’

HOME owners who build investment properties on the Capricorn Coast are being “sloppy” about their choices these days.

HOME owners who build investment properties on the Capricorn Coast are being "sloppy" about their choices these days.

That was the line of thought of building contractor Mike Traynor, who has owned his construction business Radana Pty Ltd (in Yeppoon) for more than 10 years.

Mr Traynor spoke to the Morning Bulletin yesterday about how the local building and construction market was spiralling downhill.

In the past few months, Mr Traynor said he had not received one inquiry for construction of a home.

Most of his jobs have been "maintenance" inquiries.

He said he was noticing more that home owners, who built investment properties on the Coast, were contracting builders from out of town.

Subsequently, he said those builders were constructing homes "less than average" in standard.

"Some of these homes are really sloppy, and it's not great to see at all," he said.
